International Law?-There is no such thing

The recent events in Paris highlight the fact there is no such thing as international law.  Countries do have treaties with one another and they or may not be honored.  The United Nations passes resolutions but has no power to enforce them.  There is a World Court but it only works if all the parties agree to be bound by the decision in advance, and then actually abide by it.

The acts committed in Paris are not crimes as such because the ones that committed them do not recognize the law.  They could be prosecuted if caught but that is highly unlikely.  There is no international organization that has the power or authority to hunt down terrorists and arrest them.  With all of the weaknesses in our legal system it is still a shining star when compared to the virtually nonexistent international order.

My recent book, The Sovereignty Game, highlights this 'no such thing' issue. The 17th Century Westphalian system ensures exclusivity and non-interference between sovereign nations. Its about guns and big sticks with whom defines this and sets the 'law' in the international order. Renditions, incursions, repatriations, and extraditions all fall under this rubric. It is also why climate change or plastic trash will never be effectively dealt with. Dr. WH

" The acts committed in Paris are not crimes as such" they're crimes in french law at least, and they were dealt as such. The one who made this didn't consider french law as "law" (they only recognize islamic law) does that mean french law is not law ? It's a really weird argument to make in my opinion.

Salah abdelsalam was captured by belgium and sent to france to be prosecuted.
The others are dead and 3 of them we don't know if they are on the run or dead. The arrests were made thanks to the coopération of european polices and intelligence services.

I don't get how this event shows anything regarding international law. This area of International law is really shalow for now, that doesn't negate all the ensemble.
